The Turbo Guy is delighted to announce that the company has been shortlisted for The Herald Scottish Family Business Awards 2025, which will be held on November 26, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, in Glasgow.

Now in their 13th year, these awards celebrate the unique contribution of Scotland’s family-owned firms, which collectively deliver £20 billion in annual turnover, sustain 850,000 jobs, and play a vital role in local communities across the country. This year’s 12 award categories highlight the strength, diversity, and innovation of Scotland’s family-owned enterprises from small, local firms to businesses with global reach.

The Turbo Guy is one of five companies which have made the shortlist in the category, “Fastest Growing Family Business.”

Established in 2010 as the first scalable remanufacturer of light vehicle turbos in Scotland, The Turbo Guy has developed into a leading supplier serving the automotive aftermarket, remanufacturing around 1,800 units per month from its facility in Glasgow, where it employs 31 staff. The family operated, trade-only business, supplies turbos to independent repairers, motor factors and buying groups across the UK and is often first to market with new products, thanks to its highly experienced in-house engineering team.

In 2025, The Turbo Guy expanded its business south of the border for the first time, following the acquisition of Turbocharger Service (UK) Limited (TCS) in Huddersfield. This important development has set the foundation for further growth over the next few years. The company has acquired a larger factory facility located near Leeds, which will be fully operational this month. This will provide The Turbo Guy with significantly more capacity for production and stockholding, which will enable customers to order for next day delivery across the North of England, as well as in Scotland. A brand-new telephone based technical support service for customers is also scheduled for launch before the end of this year.

The ambition for the business over the next two years is to become THE recognised primary distributor of remanufactured turbochargers in the UK. The Turbo Guy is also actively exploring opportunities to enter international markets. Currently, the business is planning the launch of a distribution facility in Florida, USA, within the next 12-18 months.

Success is not only the result of good business sense and excellent product quality. The Turbo Guy has grown because of a genuine family culture, instilled by Allan Mitchell and his wife Lynne, who is the company’s Marketing Manager. It was important to them that their business was an enjoyable place to work and looked after its staff.

Along the journey, the business has recruited other direct family members and individuals with members of their own families, all of which has created a close-knit team, which thrives under pressure. Many successful commercial relationships have been forged thanks to this approach, where there is always a friendly voice at the end of the phone.

We are looking forward to attending the awards evening in November, fingers crossed!
